Cloudflare said its Sunday morning outage affecting numerous websites was thanks to an IP outage by internet service provider Century Link. consistent with a tweet from Century Link, all affected services are restored as of 11:15AM ET.

“Today we have seen a widespread internet outage on the Internet that affected many service providers,” a Cloudflare representative said in an email to The Verge. “This wasn’t a Cloudflare-specific outage. Level 3/CenturyLink was liable for an outage that affected many Internet services, including Cloudflare. Cloudflare’s automated systems detected the matter and routed around them, but the extent of the matter required manual intervention also .”


The outage began early Sunday, and consistent with Cloudflare’s status page, it had been seeing “an increased level of HTTP 5xx class errors,” like 522 and 503. during a later update Cloudflare said it had “identified a problem with a transit provider” because the explanation for the difficulty , which it had been performing on a fix. The outage was affecting all data centers using the transport provider.


Cloudflare’s services are meant to stop websites from suffering outages thanks to peak traffic loads also as DDoS or spam comment attacks. DownDetector showed that Sunday’s outages are affecting the United States and parts of Western Europe, and sites including Discord, Hulu, Feedly, Xbox Live and dozens of others appear to be affected.
